The PADI Discover Scuba session allows you to experience the thrill of breathing underwater in a one-session Scuba adventure. The session will be conducted by a PADI Professional in the familiar, safe confines of a swimming pool. You'll learn the basic techniques for using Scuba equipment in this non-certifiable experience. If you're not sure whether Scuba is for you, come and get your feet wet and find out! Things will never be the same again… Prior to taking the plunge there are a few important things you should know about Scuba Diving. These are explained during a brief informative presentation, which will answer any questions you may have. Your underwater adventure will begin by an Instructor or Divemaster helping you on with your equipment. You will be given time to adjust to the exhilarating feeling of breathing underwater before setting off on your exploration. Add some bubbles, toys, flips & turns and this will be an unforgettable experience! You may get the opportunity to practice some fun & exciting scuba skills after a demonstration by the Instructor. This will give you an insight into what the PADI Open Water Diver course involves. Your experience begins with a poolside briefing introducing the basic principles of scuba diving safety and what you can hope to achieve from the lesson. Then get kitted out and it’s into the water to get used to the unusual feeling of weightlessness and how to manage the equipment. Under careful guidance from your instructor you will gain in confidence as your lesson progresses. You must be able to swim to take part but no previous scuba experience is necessary. All you will need is a swimming costume and towel - all the scuba gear is provided for you.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months. The experience operates on selected weekdays and weekends, availability will vary between centres. At the Nottinghamshire dives are available every other Saturday. At the Ipswich location, times are: 10AM-12PM and 3PM-5PM (Mon, Thu and Fri) and 9AM-11AM (Sat). All participants will be required to sign a medical declaration prior to taking part, those aged 45 years and over or with a history of heart problems in the family may not be able to take part at some locations (please check prior to booking). The experience is suitable for anyone over the age of 12 - at the County Durham location, children from the age of 8 are welcome. Time in the pool is around 90 minutes with a 30 minute poolside briefing. At the Ipswich location, the briefing lasts 60 minutes and time in the water is 60 minutes.
